Anna should be wary of his own people: Salman Khurshid

Bareilly:Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid today said social activist Anna Hazare needs to be wary of his own people who are "working in their own personal interests". "The people who have gathered around Anna Hazare are working in their own personal interests", Khurshid told newspersons in neighbouring Shahjahanpur district this evening. Asked whether the UPA government was working under the pressure of key alliance partner Mamata Bannerjee of Trinmool Congress, he said "Mamata is a word everyone is fond of". Supporting FDI in retail sector, he said it would improve the economy and encourage foreign investment. Expressing concern over the state of affairs in Uttar Pradesh, he said arms licences were being issued liberally which would in turn lead to more violence. Advocating a transparent manner of issuing licences, he said it would be looked into once the Congress government comes to power in the state. On senior minister in Mayawati Government, Naseemuddin Siddiqui facing a Lokayukta inquiry, Khurshid said he would not comment on it now but after the completion of the inquiry all such people should be brought before the police. Earlier addressing workers, he alleged people were fed up of non-Congess governments in UP and claimed Congress would come to power in the state.
