Did not invite team from Anna's village: Rahul Gandhi

A team from Anna Hazare's village Ralegaon Siddhi is in New Delhi to meet Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi. But Rahul's office says they have no appointment.

Congress MP from Idukki PT Thomas clarified later and said, "There was a communication gap from my office for which I apologised."

Anna Hazare's personal secretary Suresh Pathare reacting to Congress' comment said, "We have come here without any political motives. When we came here we realised there was a lot of controversies around our visit. There seems to be a lot of ego problems. Now we do not want to meet Rahul Gandhi and we are going home now."

Ralegaon Siddhi's Sarpanch Jaisingh Rao Mapari had earlier said, "We had got an appointment call from offices of Thomas and Rahul. That's why we have come. Now we don't feel like meeting Rahul."
Earlier there was speculation that Rahul was trying to come to terms with the anti-corruption crusader who has taken an anti-Congress stand over the Jan Lokpal issue.

But Congress sources said there was neither an invite nor an appointment for the Ralegaon team.
Thomas had visited Ralegaon Siddhi and had encouraged the team to call on Rahul. "When I had visited Ralegaon Siddhi in September, they had expressed the desire to meet Rahul Gandhi. I had told them to send a request, the request was addressed to me, I had forwarded the request to Rahul Gandhi’s office and they said they will give time as and when Rahul is free. There is no appointment scheduled as of now , but I will try, " said Thomas.

Thomas on Tuesday said Rahul Gandhi's office is upset with Sarpanch's comment that "Rahul Gandhi invited us". The party office said it was Sarpanch who sought an appointment.

The delegation consists of Ralegaon Sarpanch Jaisingh Rao Mapari, Anna Hazare's personal secretary Suresh Pathare and Ramdas Ugale. Sources said the team will be meeting Congress MP PT Thomas on Tuesday.
