Anna supporters plan crusade

YAMUNANAGAR: While Team Anna will start its mission - clean politics - in Hisar, Anna's followers have planned a fresh round of crusade against lax babus, especially those posted in the health department, foods & supplies department and department of explosives, who are directly involved in the festive season. All this became known on Friday afternoon when delegates of Anna Hazare's manch submitted a memorandum to additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Dinesh Yadav. Besides alleging laxity among officials of food & health department, the delegates alleged non-availability of certain officers as well as documents with the civil surgeon.

"We have been forced to take this step when we noticed that not a single food sample was collected during navaratras. With the festive season ahead, adulterated sweets and eatables might be sold but the administration is yet to act," coordinator of Anna Hazare's manch Laxman Vinayak said.

What to talk of sampling of sweets or eatables, the civil surgeon does not even have the latest documents of food and drug control Act, said Vinayak.

Manch office bearers Varun Verma and Deepak Kapoor slammed the "carefree" attitude of the officials of department of explosives and the district administration towards adherence of certain instructions while issuing temporary licence for sale of crackers.

Meanwhile, CMO Yamunanagar V K Sharma said, "We are not fully prepared to take action against adulteration. Under new rules, a special inspector can take samples but there is no regular inspector in Yamunanagar. I am waiting for the new guidelines."
