People celebrate Hazare's release on roads


KANPUR: Scores of people were out on roads on Friday to celebrate the release of Anna Hazare from Tihar Jail.

From schoolchildren to teachers, bankers to insurance employees, doctors, lawyers and common man joined the 'Vijay jaloos' which was taken out from various parts of the city. Fire crackers were burst

Clad in white kurta and payjama with Gandhian cap, they marched through roads to support Hazare, who has emerged as a hero.
Omendra Bharat, an ex-IITian and his friends burst crackers at Kidwai Nagar crossing. The residents of the area and passersby joined him and started dancing to the tunes of dhol. The merriment continued for long.

The Mall Road witnessed a brigade of schoolgirls marching through, with lots of enthusiasm and zeal on Friday morning. Raising anti-corruption slogans and singing patriotic songs, the girls tried to make aware people. Later, they gathered at Gandhi statue in Phoolbagh.

Some traders held a unique protest. They wrapped themselves up in shackles and depicted that the people of the country were still living as slaves despite being liberated from the clutches of Britishers. The protest was held at Ghantaghar crossing.

Victory processions were taken out from every locality in the city. It seemed that everyone was eager to participate in the victory processions and support Hazare. The candlelight marches were also organised. This was the fourth consecutive day when people came forward to take part in protest against corruption. People were seen taking a pledge to fight against corruption at all cost.
