Anna's campaign spreads across city


RAJKOT: The support for Anna Hazare's agitation for a strong Lokpal Bill is gathering more support with people from all walks of life organizing various programmes in the crusade against corruption.

The Anna Hazare support group has been formed in the city. The group has planned a large human chain around Race Course on Saturday between 7 pm and 9 am. The groups invited people from the city to participate in the campaign. Meanwhile, students of various schools in the city launched a signature campaign and girls of the Kadvibai Virani Kanya Vidyalaya and Ramesh M Chaya Kanya Vidyalaya organized a protest rally in the city. Hundreds of the school students took part in the rally and shouted slogans like 'remove corruption, save the nation'.

The city BJP unit will organize a 'maha-aarti' in each of the ward of the city to support Anna Hazare and prayed for his well being. Prayers and poojas were however performed in city's various temples for Anna's health on Friday.

Meanwhile, the health of Iqbal Suthar (60) deteriorated on the 11th day of his fast. Doctors visited him at Trikon Baug and took samples of his blood and urine. Suthar has been on fast since the day Anna Hazare is on fast in Delhi. Suthar is firm on his fast and said he will continue his fast till Anna continues his fast.

'We have invited people from all sections of society on a common platform to fight corruption and are expecting more than 7,000 people to join the human chain programme on Saturday,'' one of the members of Anna Support Group Jignesh Kalavadia said.
