Police seek details on Team Anna's programme

On the eve of Anna Hazare's one-day sit-in fast at Jantar Mantar, the Delhi Police have sought more details, including the magnitude of the expected gathering and names of the VVIPs who would be attending his agitation at the Ramlila Maidan commencing December 27. The Delhi Police, who are yet to give permission to Team Anna for the civil society's agitation aimed at compelling the government to give its assent to a stronger Lokpal Bill, has sought clarification on eight crucial points.

"We had dispatched a letter to the civil society group yesterday, seeking clarifications on eight points on which they have not given the information in the application filed with the deputy commissioner of police (central) Vivek Kishore on November 28," said a senior police officer.

The said letter has been signed by Pramod Joshi, the station house officer of the Kamla Market police station, under whose jurisdiction the sprawling ground lies.

The police have asked Team Anna to provide the schedule and nature of the programme on a day-to-day basis besides information about the estimated number of people expected to gather at the venue from December 27 to January 5, 2012.

The letter has also sought names of both VVIPs and VIPs expected to attend the programme, details of volunteers, timings of speeches to be delivered during the programme in addition to the seating arrangement.

"Details of those intending to sit on the stage apart from the number of vehicles to be parked, both inside and outside the venue, have also been sought," the officer said.

Meanwhile, preparations at Jantar Mantar, where the 74-year-old activist is scheduled to reach on Sunday morning, were on full swing and are expected to be completed till midnight.
