Sit-in by Anna supporters today

To express solidarity with Anna Hazare on his token fast in Delhi, India Against Corruption (IAC) activists in Pune is organising a token sit-in on Sunday at Kamla Arcade near Balgandharva Chowk from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. “At least 50 of us would fast as a gesture of solidarity with Annaji. At 6.00 pm, a rally would be taken out from Balgandharva Chowk to Shanivarwada where the rally would end in a candlelight march,” said Deepak Bhardiya, Pune co-ordinator, IAC.

Man dies as bus hits cab

A 36-year-old man died after a Karnataka State Transport Corporation bus hit the cab carrying him from his office in Yerawada to his Sinhagad Road house in the early hours of Saturday. The deceased Vikas Anant Kulkarni, was an insurance firm employee. Cab driver Ravi Ramu Rathod (21) who was injured in the accident at Sevasadan chowk lodged a complaint with Vishrambaug police after which the bus driver, Hal Gangadhar Halmatha, a resident of Karnataka was arrested. Police sub-inspector A S Hatkar is investigating the case.

Session: Sena to get aggressive

The Shiv Sena is planning to make the government sweat in the Winter Session of the state Assembly, set to commence on Tuesday. The party is ready with an array of issues, mostly specific to Pune, to take up in the assembly, ranging from the Maval firing to proliferation of chain-snatchers in Pune city.
