Support to Jan Lokpal bill: INLD to give written undertaking by Sep 30

SIRSA: A day after Arvind Kejriwal, a member of Team Anna, asked anti-graft activists to start a mass awareness campaign, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) supremo and former chief minister Om Parkash Chautala on Saturday reiterated his party's promise to give a written assurance to support Anna Hazare's draft Jan Lokpal bill.

Interacting with mediapersons after a meeting of INLD workers here, Chautala said, Right from day one, we had been supporting Anna Hazare as well as his campaign against corruption. Our Rajya Sabha MP had personally conveyed this to him as well as his team, when he was on hunger strike. We would give the written undertaking by September 30.''

On Friday morning, while interacting with activists of India Against corruption (IAC), Kejriwal had asked them to start an awareness campaign asking candidates as well as political parties to clear their stand on Anna Hazare's draft Jan Lokpal's bill. Giving political parties and candidates a deadline of September 30, he had asked the activists to start the a campaign among masses about their freedom to reject candidates.

Meanwhile, referring to Hisar byelection, the INLD supremo asserted that his Dabwali MLA-son and former MP Ajay Singh Chautala will win by a heavy margin. He dubbed the HJC-BJP alliance as ineffective as far as the byelections are concerned.

"I was a student of mathematics. In mathematics, minus and minus is equal to plus. But in the matter of BJP and HJC, minus and minus is equal to minus. We are not joining hands with any party and will fight the elections alone."

Referring to Congress party and its candidate Jai Parkash, Chautala said, We don't feel like concentrating on his defeat as the failures of Congress government are enough to ensure this. Yet, we are not taking the poll lightly as it will be like a referendum before the next parliamentary as well as assembly elections.''
