With people taking to streets to support the Jan Lokpal Bill and to protest against the arrest of Anna Hazare, a war of messages has started on the cellphones on these issues.
'Anna tum aage badho, hum tumhare saath hai' to popular dialogues of the latest film Singham starring Ajay Devgn 'Anna ko yaad karo abhi ke abhi, Anna ko jail se nikalo abhi ke abhi, Anna ke saath kuch bhi hoga to desh ka ego hurt hoga' and 'Aali re aali aata Sarkar chi vari aali' are some of the notable messages.
Like electronic media, newspapers, social networking sites etc., cellphones have played an important part in garnering support for Anna and his movement against the central government. After the Independence Day celebrations, the message inbox of cellphone users were flooded with messages on Anna Hazare and his movement.
There are messages exhorting youngsters, especially the collegians, to abstain from attending their colleges and to take out a rally in support of Anna. "Now or never. A 74-year-old man has shown the courage to stand against the government, so that our future is secured in the coming years. Being the next generation of this country, it is our responsibility to support Anna's fight by pouring on to the streets in large numbers," says a message.
