INDORE: Books on Anna Hazare are in demand as can be seen from the response at the ongoing
exhibition in the city. On Day 1 (Friday), eight books on the anti-corruption crusader were sold.
Krantidoot Anna Hazare by Sudarshan Bhatiya and Loknayak Anna Hazare by Deo Prakash Choudhary are two books in Hindi, enjoying popularity among visitors.
"We came to know about the books on Anna only after coming here," said Vijji Malviya, adding that she is a staunch supporter of the crusader. Ritika, a CS student of foundation course, came to look for books related to course. "I would love to read about Anna. I read a few books on Mahatma Gandhi." She said though she would prefer concentrating on her studies, still she would like to read about Anna. Ritika expects she will be able to see many more books on Anna on display at exhibitions by next year.
Divya, a school student, was also found flipping through Anna's books. "I have never seen such a gathering and a movement which could bind lakhs of Indians with a common bond of fighting corruption." Divya said that she was moved by the grit and determination of the septuagenarian, who raised his voice against corruption.
Karan, a representative of the Best Book Company, Delhi said, "I am excited that the books on Gandhi were once again in demand, and they have started moving off shelves." He thanked Anna for refreshing Gandhi in minds of people. "On second day, we sold some 20 copies of both books on Anna," said Karan, adding that readers were from various walks of life.
Chandra Bhushan, director, Samay Trust Delhi, says that there are 80 stalls and over 200 publishers are participating in the exhibition. We have provided space to local writers from Indore without charging anything, he said.
