JAMSHEDPUR: The premier business school of the region, Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) has elevated the Anna Hazare movement as a case study for budding managers.
For the man in the street, Anna's Lokpal movement was similar to the JP movement of 1974 but for the experts at XLRI, Anna demonstrated unparalleled leadership during his 13-day fast which made the Union government give in to his demands.
"Traits of leadership, mass management and moral authority were on display for prospective leaders, irrespective of their streams," said Munish Thakur, professor, strategic management, XLRI.
Throwing light on the fundamental difference between Yoga Guru Ramdev's unsuccessful campaign against corruption and that of Anna, the professor said ineffective leadership and management were the primary reasons behind Ramdev's failure.
"These two incidents are classic examples for prospective business students to study and emulate," said Thakur, who added that in all probability, Anna's case study would make it to the classroom in the next three months.
"Moral authority among business leaders is paramount and it should be preserved at any cost," he said.
The professor, however, said every movement has it merits and demerits. But in the process of learning, one needs to focus on the merits.
