Health of another Anna supporter deteriorates

KANPUR: The health condition of another person who has been fasting in support of Anna Hazare's anti-corruption campaign deteriorated on Wednesday.

Nandita Tiwari has been on a fast since August 16 (the day Anna Hazare sat on fast in New Delhi) at her residence in Gwaltoli. A medical team conducted a check-up on her on Wednesday.

It is worth mentioning here that this is the second case of a person sitting on a fast in the city to express solidarity with Anna Hazare's cause.

The first case was of a senior citizen, Mohanlal Gupta, who was fasting at 'Subhash Upvan' and found in a serious condition on Saturday.

When Nandita asked for her urine test reports from the district medical authorities, they refused to give her the same.

"I asked Dr Piyush Mishra to show me my reports but he refused initially and when I said it is right, he was ready to give me the details but not the original copy of my medical reports," said Nandita.

Chief medical officer Dr Jai Singh said, "We are not allowed to give the medical reports to anybody as we are doing these check-ups at the orders of district administration and not with the wish and consent of the particular person."

He added, "Nobody has the right to die in this country and if we will find any person serious, we can ask the police authorities to admit him to the hospital whether he wishes or not. If somebody wants to see the medical report, he can see it after getting the permission of either the district administration or the police authorities."

Meanwhile, the city witnessed a number of protests in support of Jan Lokpal Bill and Anna Hazare on Wednesday.

The members of ITEES computer education took out a candlelight march from Mall Road to Phoolbagh Gandhi Pratima.

Joining the bandwagon, the students of Halim Muslim Degree College also protested in support of Anna Hazare by wearing black ribbons 'Anna' caps in the college premises on Wednesday.

The students of SVY Education Centre also took out a rally in the day.

Besides, the members of State Bank of India Staff Association also came out on roads to protest against the corruption.

The members of Rashtriya Bhrashtachar Unmulan Samiti also did not lag behind in supporting Anna Hazare. They joined the members of India Against Corruption (IAC) in protest at Gandhi Pratima in Phoolbagh.

However, the members of Jhulelal Temple Trust also extended their support to Anna's campaign. The Jhulelal devotees took out a 'shobha yatra' by wearing 'Anna' caps and black ribbons on Wednesday.
