NEW DELHI: Anna Hazare has lost six kilograms after he began his fast on August 16 and a worried government has given special instructions to the medical team to keep a “strict vigil” on his health.
Anna weighed 72 kg when he started his fast and on Monday it was 66 kg, one kg less than his ideal weight, said doctors. And, his interactions with crowds came down from at least twice or thrice a day to none.
“He has lost nearly six kg of weight ever since he started fasting. Anna’s blood pressure is okay but his kidney has been infected. We have got special instruction from the top to be more alert. He is showing signs of weakness especially after Sunday’s extra action,’’ said one of the members of the medical team, which is keeping a vigil on the social activist.
The ongoing fast is apparently the 12th one that Hazare is undertaking. A team of doctors from a government hospital and from Naresh Trehan’s Vedanta Medicity is on standby.
