Chanda MP extends support to Anna

CHANDRAPUR: Chandrapur witnessed mesmerizing support to the Anna Hazare's movement. While bandh were observed in Chandrapur, Bhadrawati, Warora and Ghugus towns, half a dozen hunger strikes are underway across the district to support Hazare. People from all walks of life including kids, elders, women, students and professionals stepped openly in support of Hazare.

Following the call given by Anna, a group of over 150 supporters staged sit-in agitation chanting Bhajans before the residence of MP Ahir on Monday morning. The agitation lasted for over one and half-hour and Ahir himself stepped out to meet the activists.

Bowing before the activists, Ahir finally dispatched a letter to party chief Gadkari declaring his support to Anna's draft of Lokpal Bill. "The anti-graft movement of Hazare has received never before support from the people from across the country. Government's draft of Lokpal Bill has several loopholes, hence Congress should present the Jan Lokpal Bill drafted by Hazare and his team," Ahir wrote to Gadkari.

Datta Meghe too backs Hazare

Wardha: Responding to the demands of the activists and protesters, Wardha MP Datta Meghe said that he is with the movement launched by Team Anna. "I think the Jan Lokpal Bill of Anna should be passed in the parliament as every one wants to eradicate corruption," Meghe said, adding, "Personally I agree with Anna but the parliament is the only institution which makes laws. Also I belong to Congress Party and I will follow the party's decision."

However, Meghe criticised Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari for his uncalled for remarks on Hazare's Army stint. "Tiwari must apologies to Anna," Meghe said. Meghe further said, "The government should honour public sentiment that has emerged with Anna's movement."

He asked the Marathis to support the 'Marathi Manoos' Anna.
