Activists of local organisations observed a token fast in support of noted social activist Anna Hazare, who today began a fast-unto-death in New Delhi to press for a comprehensive anti-corruption bill to check graft in the country. The fast was held under the banner of `India Against Corruption' organisation at Yaadgar-e-Shahjahani Park here. The groups which took part in the fast included Bhopal Mahila Udyog Sanghthan, Sarokar Yuv Samvad, All India Youth Federation and Nagrik Adhikar Manch. Social workers Abdul Jabbar, Balkrishna Namdev, Kumud Sachin Jain, Upasana Lakhan Yadav and Lajjashankar Hardenia, among others, alleged that the Centre was not doing enough to check widespread corruption in the country. People signed on a postcard addressed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi demanding introduction of Lokpal Bill in Parliament. Nearly 1,200 people also signed on a banner highlighting their demands in this regard.
