Official questions Anna’s trusts

Assistant charity commissioner of Ahmednagar district, Shailendra Tambe, has observed irregularities in the trusts related to anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare. The irregularities relate to filing of information of office-bearers, members and properties. He has asked the trusts to comply with the technical requirements.

Tambe passed the orders on three cases filed by Rashtriya Bhrashtachar Virodhi Jan Sanghatna president, Hemant Patil, who lives in Pune, about the trusts related to Anna on November 11.

Patil on Saturday provided copies of the inquiry reports and orders passed on them by the assistant charity commissioner. He filed complaints about three trusts — Sant Yadav Baba Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Bhrashtachar Virodhi Jan Andolan Nyas and Swami Vivekanand Krutadyata Nidhi all stationed in Ralegan Siddhi (Ahmednagar district), the native village of Hazare. Anna is the founder president of these trusts.

Patil’s complaints were about not following provisions of laws for management of public trusts regarding property and membership. The complaints were filed in April, 2011.

In an order related to the Bhrashtachar Virodhi Jan Andolan Nyas (anti-corruption movement trust), assistant charity commissioner has ordered trustees to file an application immediately about additional movable property and four-wheeler vehicles, to regularly file annual budgets of the trust, to Qregularly file information about executive board, members and employees of the trust every year.

In an order related to Sant Yadav Baba Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, the assistant charity commissioner has said that there is no clarity in the rules of the trust regarding election and tenure of executive board. The trusts should make correction in the rules.
Assistant charity commissioner has said that there is increase in movable and immovable properties of the trust and hence an application should be filed immediately regarding it. Also, henceforth caution should be taken to file the details within deadline.

In case of Swami Vivekanand Krutadyanata Nidhi, the assistant charity commissioner has ordered to follow suggestions of chartered accountant in the balance sheet. There are also other orders similar to those for other trusts about providing information regarding executive board and property of the trust.
