Film inspired by Anna's struggle

Real-life imitates reel life with a film inspired by Anna Hazare's movement

Now gear up for a gritty film inspired by Anna Hazare's movement that shook up the nation. "This is not a B or C grade film. It is a true story of corrupt police and district administration officials who rape the wives of men who do not pay them the regular "hafta" or bribe. The film is set in rural India and tells the story of a woman who is repeatedy gang-raped by a DSP and some other officials," says producer Kamal Uday Singh.

About 10 per cent of the film has already been shot and shooting will be continued in the coming weeks. The film is being shot at 2-3 locations in India, besides Mumbai and has a

decent budget of Rs 2.8 crore. According to producer Kamal Uday Singh, "I was inspired by the struggle of Anna Hazare and others who managed to inspire millions of Indians to join the peaceful and non-violent struggle. I already had a script ready on Anna Hazare's anti-corruption movement and the exploitation of women."

"It is the story of the fight against corruption, a corrupt system and the exploitation that feeds this corrupt system," says Singh.
