Will Anna's draft be tabled?

There are indications that the Government may finally make an effort to end the deadlock now. According to sources, the government may now decide to table Anna's draft in Parliament. The government may consider bringing in Jan Lokpal as a corrigendum or addition to the already introduced draft bill.

Official sources have revealed that the possibility of introducing Anna Hazare’s draft as a corrigendum is not being ruled out. This is something that has been at the very heart of Anna Hazare’s protest.

By bringing in Lokpal as a corrigendum, the government hopes to buy peace with Team Anna. The proposal was in fact debated at the Core Committee meeting which took place on Monday evening.

The Government has so far tried to play every trick in the book to break the deadlock with team Anna. According to sources, the Congress had first approached Anna Hazare’s longtime aide, spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar, founder of Art of Living, to reason with the crusader.

Late on Monday evening, there were reports of Sri Sri Ravishankar meeting with BJP leader LK Advani to take stock of Anna Hazare’s health, proof that negotiations were on at every level.

Sources indicate that Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan was also working to help the Government, a report that was denied. Another Anna Hazare aide Bhaiyyu Maharaj came out and said that he was also talking to Anna Hazare but the corruption crusaders maintaining that these were all rumors.

But it’s UC Sarangi who has been seen meeting Anna Hazare over the last few days, who was moving between Ramlila and Kapil Sibal’s residence. Officially, he refused to comment.
