It has been nearly 200 hours since 74-year-old Anna Hazare started his fast and with every passing day, support for the Gandhian is only growing.
His supporters have also continued reaching the residences of MPs and ministers across India demanding answers on the Lokpal Bill.
A host of people from various sections of the society, including farmer associations and authors, reached Ramlila Maidan on Tuesday to express solidarity with the movement.
Bhartiya Kisan Union president Rakesh Tikait, son of famous leader Mahendra Singh Tikait, arrived at Ramlila Maidan on Tuesday.
“Farmers will be coming to Ramlila Maidan to express support as such a bill is good for everyone,” Tikait told DNA.
Freedom fighter Bhagat Singh’s nephew Abhay Singh was also at the venue.
Bhojpuri actor Manoj Tiwari enthralled the audience with songs. “In 1996, I had refused to pay a bribe of Rs65,000 to become a police officer. In the past few months during my association with Annaji, I have felt myself as a better person,” he told DNA.
But people are supporting not just through their presence at Ramlila Maidan. Anna and his team members have been receiving hundreds of letters from people across the country at their new address - Ramlila Maidan.
Homeless people in the city have also made the fast venue as their temporary home for the past few days as they are getting food through out the day.
Meanwhile, the Team Anna Tuesday stopped receiving donations from the people as they felt they don’t need money in such huge amount. “Everything is accounted for. We are calculating the money that came through cash, demand drafts, cheques and other mans. We would give the complete details,” the activists said.
