Government appeals to Hazare to give his fast unto death

The government today appealed to the veteran social activist Anna Hazare to end the fast and participate in drafting of the legislation for the Lokpall Bill.

"Talks are going on and we appeal to Anna Hazare to give up his fast and participate in the drafting of legislation for the Lokpall Bill," Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee told reporters on the sidelines of a CII event here.

Veteran social activist Anna Hazare has started his indefinite hunger strike on April 5 demanding enactment of a comprehensive Jan Lokpal Bill against corruption.

On the fourth day of the indefinite fast against corruption, the septuagenarian activist, unfazed by his health conditions, announced a 'Jail Bharo' movement from April 13 as the government rejected their demands to issue a notification to constitute the draft committee for writing Lokpal Bill and an outsider as its committee's chair.
