Rapping for Anna Hazare

After writing the Independence Day song Kahe ka freedom… song writer-rapper Tanmay Bahulekar has now composed a rap in tribute to the Jan Lokpal bill crusader, Anna Hazare. In less than two weeks the song called I am Anna has already received thousands of views on YouTube. Incidentally, Bahulekar, who is known by his stage name, Microphon3, is also the creative director at UTV Bindass, the channel that aired the Independence Day song in August and is currently airing his latest single, I am Anna.

“We wanted to do something around Independence Day. I suggested we make a music video of the track. After that, we started getting good response to Kahe ka freedom….

Then the Anna fever caught on, so I thought of doing this song,” says Bahulekar, who spends a lot of time writing and recording his own music apart from performing at gigs occasionally.

The less-than-two-minute video sees Bahulekar singing against an unpolished backdrop of videos and images from the various rallies organised in support of Hazare.

Calling the convergence of his day job and what he loves doing the most a happy coincidence, he adds, “The artiste is Microphon3 and this makes it easy for my music as well.” The song is available on YouTube as well as on the UTV Bindass website and Facebook page. Ask Bahulekar if he has more plans with his alter ego, Microphon3, and he says, “There may be a tour soon. The channel wants to get into the music space.”
